  • Gas Analyzers of California Analytical Instruments:
    1. Principle of chemiluminescence for analyzing the NO or NOx concentration within a gaseous sample. In the NO mode, the method is based upon the chemiluminescent reaction between ozone and nitric oxide (NO) yielding nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and oxygen. This reaction produces light which has intensity proportional to the mass flow rate of NO2 into the reaction chamber. The light is measured by means of a photodiode and associated amplification electronics. In the NOx mode, NO plus NO2 is determined as above, however, the sample is first routed through the internal NO2 to NO converter which converts the NO2 in the sample to NO. The resultant reaction is then directly proportional to the total concentration of NOx. Sample enters the analyzer directly into a heated chamber and is maintained at an elevated temperature. The moisture will remain in the vapor state, thus ensuring no loss of the NO2.
      Auto Calibration.
      Ranges: 0-5 ppb to 0-2000 ppb full scale, user selectable, independent NO, NO2, NOX ranges and autoranging supported.

    2. The California Analytical Instruments Model 400 HCLD gas analyzer utilizes the principle of chemiluminescence for analyzing the NO or NOx concentration within a gaseous sample. In the NO mode, the method is based upon the chemiluminescent reaction between ozone and nitric oxide (NO) yielding nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and oxygen. Approximately 10% of the NO2 produced from this reaction is in an electronically excited state. The transition from this state to a normal state produces light which has an intensity proportional to the mass flow rate of NO2 into the reaction chamber. The light is measured by means of a photodiode tube and associated amplification electronics. In the NOx mode, NO plus NO2 is determined as above, however, the sample is first routed through the internal NO2 to NO converter which converts the NO2 in the sample to NO. The resultant reaction is then directly proportional to the total concentration of NOx. The entire sample, prior to the reaction chamber, is maintained at a temperature of 65°C.

  • Gas Analyzers of California Analytical Instruments:
    The Flame Ionization Detection (FID) method to determine the total hydrocarbon concentration within a gaseous sample. The gas analyzer has an adjustable heated oven (60 TO 200°C) which contains a heated pump and a burner in which a small flame is elevated and sustained by regulated flows of air and either pure hydrogen or a 40/60 mixture of hydrogen and nitrogen. The burner jet is used as an electrode and is connected to the negative side of a precision power supply. An additional electrode, known as the “collector,” is connected to a high impedance, low noise electronic amplifier. The two electrodes establish an electrostatic field. When a gaseous sample is introduced to the burner, it is ionized in the flame and the electrostatic field causes the charged particles (ions) to migrate to their respective electrodes. The migration creates a small current between the electrodes. This current is measured by the precision electrometer amplifier and is directly proportional to the hydrocarbon concentration of the sample.

    Flame ionization detector (FID) Continuous Emissions Monitoring system.
    The gas analyzer ENDA-HF-503 system extracts the sample gas from the stack or duct using a stainless steel probe and heated filter assembly. In the system cabinet, the sample gas is separated into two streams. One stream is routed via a heated sample line to an FIA-236 analyzer which uses the flame ionization detection method (FID) to measure total hydrocarbons. The second stream is cooled, dried, and filter and routed to an MPA-510 analyzer which uses the magnetopneumatic method to measure oxygen concentration.

  • Gas Analyzers of CODEL International Ltd.:
    The gas analyzer G-CEM4100 is a hot extractive analyser for difficult flue gas monitoring applications. It uses infrared absorption spectroscopy to measure up to seven pollutant species in a single self-contained unit.
    Many conventional extractive systems require the sampled gas to be cleaned and dried to a very high standard prior to analysis, invariably resulting in a high maintenance demand. Such elaborate pre-conditioning is not required; the G-CEM4100 creates ‘perfect’ duct conditions in a temperature controlled chamber within a separate free-standing, air-conditioned cabinet. Process gases are simply cooled (or heated) then transferred along a heated sample line, without further conditioning, to be measured using a CODEL multi-channel analyser housed in the cabinet.
    Increasingly, environmental agencies demand that continuous emission analysers have the facility to prove their performance using known concentration audit gases. The G-CEM4100 provides the facility to automatically check and control zero using clean, dry compressed air (or N2). Where independent span checks are required, bottled gases of known concentration can be injected directly into the measurement chamber.
